Today, I am going to speak on the topic “Ocean Pollution Crisis.”
Oceans are one of the most important parts of our planet. They cover more than two-thirds of the Earth’s surface and provide food, oxygen, and livelihood for millions of people. However, today our oceans are facing a serious crisis due to pollution.
Ocean pollution happens when harmful waste such as plastic, oil spills, chemicals, sewage, and industrial waste are dumped into the sea. Most of this pollution comes from human activities on land.
Plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to oceans. Every year, tons of plastic waste enter the sea, harming marine life. Fish, turtles, and seabirds often mistake plastic for food, which can lead to injury or death. Microplastics are now found even in seafood, affecting human health as well.
Oil spills from ships and industries also cause severe damage. They pollute water, destroy coral reefs, and kill marine animals. Chemical waste and sewage further reduce water quality and disturb the balance of ocean ecosystems.
Ocean pollution not only affects marine life but also impacts humans. It harms fishing industries, tourism, and the overall health of our environment.
We can help reduce ocean pollution by avoiding plastic use, properly disposing of waste, supporting clean-up drives, and reducing chemical usage. Governments should enforce strict laws to prevent dumping waste into oceans.
As students and responsible citizens, we should spread awareness about protecting oceans and keeping them clean.
In conclusion, oceans are vital for life on Earth, but they are in danger due to pollution. It is our duty to protect them and take action now for a cleaner and healthier future.
