Good morning respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends.
Today, I am here to speak on the topic “Climate Change and Global Warming.”
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our world today. It refers to long-term changes in the Earth’s weather patterns, while global warming means the gradual rise in the Earth’s average temperature. These changes are mainly caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests, and increasing pollution.
When we burn coal, oil, and natural gas for electricity, transport, and industries, harmful gases like carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat around the Earth, creating what is known as the greenhouse effect. As a result, the planet becomes warmer year after year.
The effects of climate change can already be seen around us. Summers are becoming hotter, glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, and many places are experiencing floods, droughts, wildfires, and stronger storms. Climate change also affects agriculture, wildlife, and human health. Many animals lose their habitats, farmers face unpredictable weather, and people suffer from heatwaves and air pollution.
Although this problem is serious, there is hope. Every one of us can contribute to protecting our planet. We can plant more trees, save electricity, use public transport or bicycles whenever possible, reduce the use of plastic, recycle waste, and conserve water. Using renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind power can also reduce pollution and slow down global warming.
Schools and communities can organise environmental awareness programmes, tree-planting campaigns, and clean-up drives to encourage people to take responsibility for the environment. Even simple habits, like switching off lights when not in use or carrying a reusable water bottle, can make a difference when practised by millions of people.
The Earth is our only home, and it is our responsibility to protect it. The choices we make today will shape the future for generations to come. If we act together, we can reduce the effects of climate change and build a cleaner, greener, and healthier world.
I would like to end with this important message:
“There is no Planet B. Let us act today to protect the Earth for tomorrow. Small actions by millions of people can create a big change.”
Thank you, and have a wonderful day!
